Clean Energy Program
All countries, the world over including, the USA, which is arguably the largest consumer of power in the world, have a pressing need for using green energy instead of the polluting type which is mainly used nowadays.
Photovoltaic solar energy is one type of energy which can definitely be used in a clean energy program. Currently, we use a lot of energy to power our vehicles, our streets, our homes but that is mainly the polluting type which releases a lot of carbon in the atmosphere and which will cause an additional amount of pollution. Other alternative forms of energy which can be considered in a clean energy program would be biomass, tidal power, wind power, solar power, biofuels, geothermal etc. If sufficient investments are made in these new energy sources and sufficient tax concessions are given by governments, more and more people will opt to use these energy sources and should be able to meet most of our energy requirements – the one great benefit will be on our environment which will be much more cleaner and this can be bequeathed to our children and grandchildren.
In a clean energy program, say for example, one would have hybrid cars instead of cars which run only on gasoline and diesel. There are cars which run on traditional as well as alternative energy sources such as LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). The benefit of having them run on both sources of energy is that especially when you go out of the city, there may not be too much centers which supply LPG and CNG – there one can use gasoline or diesel. There are leading automobile companies which are spending huge amounts of money in research on cars which will run on alternative sources of energy such as electricity. Some of these are already in use. Understandably, these are quite expensive as the car companies have spent quite a bit of money in research and would wish to recover that. As more and more people begin buying such cars, the cost of the cars would come down. The car companies are also looking for incentives from the governments such as subsidies on the amount spent on research or tax concessions since this will also enable to sell them at a lower price to the consumer.
Biofuels would be a good substitute for the polluting fossil fuels that are mainly used today. Biofuels would mostly be manufactured from photosynthetic plants though they could also be made from most biocarbon sources as well.
